Concrete Jersey Barrier Project

In response to Covid 19 restrictions, during the summer of 2020, the City of Newton, MA organized a project with volunteer artists to paint some Jersey barriers in front of restaurants. This creative undertaking resulted in a very colorful space while insuring a safe dining experience for the guests.

My thoughts were to transform the concrete into a stained glass look and feel, by showing details as if one is looking through. Consequently, if one is standing on the outside of the barriers, tables, plates, cups, and saucers can be seen. If one is standing on the inside , Thistles, Leeks, and sky is the sight. Some of these elements of nature refer to the name of the restaurant.
